IBC Spill Pallets

An IBC spill pallet, also called an IBC bund, is a moulded polyethylene sump that sits under an intermediate bulk container and holds whatever leaks out of it. Every unit in this range has a sump capacity of 1,100 litres, which is not an arbitrary number: for oil stored in England, the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations require secondary containment of at least 110% of the largest container, and 110% of a 1,000 litre IBC is 1,100 litres. The range covers a single IBC, two IBCs on one base, and a single-IBC unit with an integral dispensing area for decanting at the tap. All are UV-stabilised for outdoor storage, take 2-way forklift access, and have removable grids so the sump can be cleaned out without lifting the IBC off.

What is an IBC Spill Pallet, and Why Do You Need One?

For oil stored in England, the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) Regulations set the bund at 110% of the largest container it serves. A 1,000 litre IBC therefore needs 1,100 litres of containment, which is why every IBC bund in this range is built to exactly that figure. Where more than one container drains into the same bund, the requirement becomes 110% of the largest container or 25% of the total stored volume, whichever is greater, so two 1,000 litre IBCs on a shared base still come back to 1,100 litres, because 110% of the largest beats 25% of the 2,000 litre total. That is the calculation behind our double-capacity unit. For chemicals that fall outside the oil regulations, COSHH and HSE guidance work to the same principle: the bund has to hold more than the vessel above it, and it has to be kept clear, because a sump holding rainwater or spilled product is not holding its rated capacity any more.

Types of IBC Spill Pallets: Choosing the Right Solution for Your Needs

Our range includes double IBC spill pallets, bunded pallets, and spill trays, tailored to suit different containment needs. Double IBC spill pallets provide maximum capacity for two IBC tanks, while bunded and sump pallets add extra containment security, ideal for high-risk storage of oils, chemicals, and other hazardous substances.

How to Maintain Compliance with Spill Containment Regulations

Meeting compliance standards requires reliable secondary containment solutions. Our IBC spill pallets and bunded storage units support COSHH and HSE spill containment requirements, preventing leaks and minimising environmental risks. With options like drain-equipped pallets and sturdy plastic or steel spill pallets, you can meet UK and international regulations effectively.
